Real Time Gaming (RTG). Non-interference policy turned into a failure

This developer appeared long before many popular studios appeared today. RTG has been operating since 1998 and during this time it has had victories and defeats. Once one of the leaders, the developer has turned into an outsider who is still afloat, but few people are counting on the fact that they will regain their former glory.

Why did Real Time Gaming fail?

Microgaming and NetEnt are two giants that started around the same time as Real Time Gaming, but still exist safely to this day. What is the problem with this developer? The main reason, I think, was that the company adopted a kind of hands-off policy.

What is meant? They released not only games, but also casino platforms, helped to obtain a license, in general, provided a full package of services for the casino. However, very many of their casinos turned out to be scams. The developer himself has never been convicted of any illegal fraud, but the operators regularly deceived the players.

When the gambling community and players called on them for help in order to put pressure on the operators and get money, they remained on the sidelines. Their position was as follows - we provide only software and are not responsible for the actions of those who use this software. An advantageous position in the short term, but the decision turned out to be short-sighted.

As a result, casinos based on Real Time Gaming software began to be associated with fraud among players. And the fact that there were honest operators among the operators, and the developer himself did not violate anything, did not protect the company from failure. It’s just that there were so many scammers with their software that it no longer made sense to understand each individual operator if you could just find other casinos.

Player beating

Virtual Casino Group, which owned numerous casino sites on the Real Time Gaming platform, did an amazing (in a bad way) act. More precisely, not the group itself, but one casino belonging to the group. Cirrus Casino, which was later renamed Dreams Casino, had the audacity to beat up one of the players.

The case was presumably in 2009. The Cirrus Casino office was located in Costa Rica. By the way, this is a terrible jurisdiction, where there is not even legislation regarding online gambling. A player who had not been withdrawn money for two weeks came to their office to see the owner of the casino, who, according to him, yelled like a mad man at some people in the office. In general, he spent less than 10 minutes there and was asked to leave.

The player went to a restaurant to buy food, and it turned out that he was followed by security guards from the casino office. They warned the player to never ask about the withdrawal count again or mention it in any forums or they would kill him. They confirmed the seriousness of their words by hitting the player several times. According to him, this case discouraged any desire to play in the casino for a long time.

Given the owner's criminal record, this story is believable. Navtej Kohli, also known as Tej Kohli, was sentenced to 80 months in prison and $5 million in damages.

Together with his junior assistant, they persuaded to sell the property to dummies, writing them IOUs, which they then refused to pay. Then they received loans as collateral for real estate. During the appraisal, the value of the property was inflated in order to get more money. After issuing a loan, they took the money for themselves and did not repay it. The defendants did not agree with the verdict and filed an appeal, but they were refused.

Apparently, after serving time, Tej Kohli saw more potential in online gambling and less chance of going to jail because of it. He opened a whole network of Virtual Casino Group casinos and an affiliate program AceRevenue, trying in every possible way to hide his involvement in them.

The casinos of this group received a huge number of complaints that money was stolen from players. That is, for no reason they delay payments and refuse to withdraw. Subsequently, the company moved to the Czech Republic and things seem to have become more or less honest, but this is no longer important.

I don't think players should be so generous as to forgive past mistakes and risk being fooled despite the bad experiences of others.

Conclusion

Real Time Gaming have chosen an unsuccessful policy. Now they have no decent games, and there is no longer any interest in this company. Their time is gone, at least in online gambling in the European and American markets. Therefore, they are trying to gain a foothold in the Asian market by opening offices in Macau, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Taipei and Manila. They even have a separate site for the Asian market that seems to have a lot more life than their original site.
